Hannah Newell, RSW

Hi, I'm Hannah, a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a passion for creating a warm, compassionate, and welcoming space where clients feel safe to explore, heal, and grow.

I began my journey in social work by earning my Social Service Worker diploma from Sheridan College in 2021, where I developed a strong foundation in client-centred care and community support. During this time, I completed placements with Bereaved Families of Ontario and SAVIS of Halton, experiences that deepened my appreciation for the resilience of individuals navigating grief, trauma, and life's most challenging moments.

In 2024, I completed my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), further strengthening my clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence-informed practice. Since 2025, I have worked as a Young Caregiver and Family Counsellor, supporting children, youth, families, and caregivers through a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and life challenges.

My areas of passion include grief and bereavement, supporting young caregivers, life transitions, emotional well-being, and helping children, youth, and adults navigate life's difficult seasons. I believe counselling should be collaborative, approachable, and tailored to each individual. Alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I enjoy incorporating creative and expressive interventions, including art-based activities, metaphors, and playful techniques when appropriate, to help clients process emotions in meaningful and engaging ways.

Above all, I believe healing looks different for everyone. My goal is to offer a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward at your own pace. With compassion, curiosity, and just a touch of whimsy, I'm here to walk alongside you as you discover your own path toward healing and growth.

My Approach

Every person's story is unique, and counselling should reflect that. Individual counselling provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy. Whether you're navigating grief and bereavement, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, caregiver challenges, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationship concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we'll work together to understand your experiences and develop meaningful strategies that support your well-being.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. While many sessions involve conversation and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I also incorporate creative and expressive interventions when appropriate. This may include art-based activities, metaphors, mindfulness, and play-based or Theraplay-informed techniques, particularly when working with children and youth. Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and together we'll find an approach that feels comfortable, engaging, and meaningful for you.
